 Advanced Pilot Training: Aircraft Operation

This part of the "Weapons School" is about (allied/US AAC/AAF) Aircraft in WWII. The main focus is on aircraft handling in general, or specifically for a type, mark or make. What you may expect to find here (over time) are issues like general aircraft handling topics, aircraft components handling (flaps etc.) and reports on individual aircraft (Flight Manuals, NACA reports etc.). It is not intended to file any "flight reports" - i.e. mostly second; or sometimes third hand - "pilots perspective" stuff. If possible, the complete story is told, not just a part.

It is expected that the reader is familiar with the basics of aerodynamics - as far as things went in WWII. Parameters and formulas are not explained here. Head over to the "Basic Training School" - if you are an ICAG pilot.

And one more thing: This is not about flying the birds in combat. Or how to gain an edge in combat. This part of the site is plain old technical stuff. It is not filtered through modern teminology and after the fact analysis and research - it reflects the state of the art at the time published - and the time of the fighting. Period.
