THE BATTLE OF BRITAIN. Air Ministry Pamphlet 156; Issued by the Department of the Air Member for Training, August 1943

Appendix B:

TO EXPLAIN DIAGRAM OF LUFTFLOTTE AREAS AND FLIEGERKORPS

1. Luftflotte Boundaries in France

The boundary line dividing the extended areas of Luftflotte 2 and 3 ran roughly from the mouth of the Seine, skirting Paris to the North, through Charleville to meet the peace-time frontier of France and Germany to the North of Luxembourg.

2. Fliegerkorps

Subordinate to Luftflotte 2 were Fliegerkorps I and II commanded respectively by Generaloberst Grauert and General der Flieger Loerzer. Fliegerkorps I and II were responsible for the attacks on London and South-East England. Subordinate to Luftflotte 3 were Fliegerkorps IV (Generaloberst Keller), Fliegerkorps V (General der Flieger von Greim) and Fliegerkorps VIII (General der Flieger von Richthofen). Fliegerkorps V carried out the attacks on Portsmouth and Southampton, and Fliegerkorps VIII specialized in attacks on Channel shipping.
